The hexagram library

The engine identifies the Jing Fang palace and its element, assigns line branches using the declared Na Jia table, and compares each line element with the palace element to obtain its relationship role. Self and Other follow the Eight Palaces structure. Six-clash and six-combination flags compare line pairs 1/4, 2/5 and 3/6.

The Six Spirits depend on the casting day and are omitted from this static library. Hidden spirits are not calculated, and missing categories are stated explicitly. These pages do not calculate an event date. To explore a specific question, use the Six-line I Ching tool. A cast adds its own date and moving lines and links to the corresponding published guide.

Each palace contains eight hexagrams. Starting from its doubled trigram, successive line changes produce five generations, followed by the wandering-soul and returning-soul stages. The eight members share one palace element, making their relationship assignments easier to compare. The traditional names describe structural stages, not literal spirits.

To read the tables, explore Na Jia and relationships, Self and Other, and the focus line.
