What the comparison shows
Both charts appear side by side with the same four sections:
- Four Pillars: year, month, day, and hour stems and branches, with Ten Gods and hidden stems. An unknown time produces three pillars.
- Day Master strength: the Day Master's support score from 0 to 100. The threshold of 50 changes the supportive-element classification. Calculation details are included.
- Five Elements: weighted Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water values. Stems and main hidden stems count as 1; secondary and residual hidden stems count as 0.5 and 0.3. Both charts use the same scale.
- Twelve Zi Wei palaces: a chart of major stars and birth-year Four Transformations when the person's birth time is known.
Below the charts, an optional reading considers the chosen relationship type, Day Masters, Five Elements, and month pillars. See the Pricing page for prices. Sign in to save the comparison. No overall compatibility score is shown; the FAQ explains why.

Signals between the two charts
- Day stem
- Person one's Day Master 甲 (Wood 木) supports Person two's 丙 (Fire 火). No traditional stem combination.
- Day branch (relationship palace)
- 子 and 午: Six Clashes 六沖.
- A clash involving the relationship palace
- The two day branches clash with each other. Person two's year branch 午 clashes with Person one's day branch 子.
- Five Elements comparison
- Person one's lowest element is Metal 金 (0.3); Person two has 3.0 in that element. Person two's lowest element is Wood 木 (0.5); Person one has 2.5 in that element.
Each signal is considered separately. We do not add them into one score. For sources and limitations, see How to read a BaZi chart comparison。
What is compared?
A comparison looks at the Day Masters, Five Elements, and month pillars together. It explores traditional supporting and restraining relationships and whether one person's elements complement the other's distribution.
The month pillar is traditionally associated with early influences and habitual rhythms. Comparing month pillars can offer a perspective on different expectations and styles of interaction.
Common signals include day-branch combinations, three-part combinations, clashes and harms; day-stem relationships; complementary elements; and whether the other person's year or day branch clashes with one's day branch. These are separate signals, not components of a validated overall score. For their sources and limits, see How to read a BaZi chart comparison。
Choosing a relationship type
The same charts can be explored from different perspectives. A marriage reading considers shared life and responsibilities; a relationship reading considers communication and emotions; a working partnership considers decisions and roles; and a parent–child reading focuses on expectations and guidance.
Choose General comparison if none of the categories fits. The reading will avoid assuming a particular kind of relationship.
How does this differ from zodiac matching and Zi Wei comparison?
- Zodiac matching
- considers only birth-year branches, such as the Rat–Horse clash. Everyone in the same birth-year group receives the same relation to another group. This tool does not use that alone to judge a relationship.
- BaZi chart comparison
- compares the complete Four Pillars: Day Masters, stem combinations, day-branch relationships, Five Elements, and month-pillar patterns. The zodiac is only one part of the year pillar. This is the method used here.
- Zi Wei comparison
- compares the palace stars and Four Transformations in two Zi Wei charts and needs both birth times. This tool's reading uses BaZi. Available Zi Wei charts are shown for reference, without a separate palace-by-palace compatibility reading. For an individual Zi Wei chart, use Zi Wei chart calculator.
Chart comparison, marriage matching, and compatibility are often used loosely. Read which signals have traditional sources, their limits, and why we avoid a total score in How to read a BaZi chart comparison。
Frequently asked questions
- Can we compare charts without a birth time?
- Yes. A person with an unknown time can use three pillars. Day Master and day-branch relationships and the Five Elements can still be compared, with limits. The missing hour and Zi Wei chart reduce detail, and three-pillar strength scores can run lower. Interpret these findings cautiously.
- What if I do not know the other person's birth details?
- Fill in your own details and create an invitation link. They can enter their details on their own device and see both charts. The link expires after seven days.
- Does the result give a compatibility score?
- No. Combinations, clashes, and complementary elements are different signals. Combining them into a single score would suggest a precision they do not support. The result lists the specific signals and explains possible ease and friction.
- Can we compare same-sex partners, friends, family, or colleagues?
- Yes. The form offers General comparison, Marriage, Romantic relationship, Parent–child, Friends, Working partnership. The same comparison rules apply to same-sex partners: Day Masters, Five Element structure, and month pillars. This tool does not judge relationships through sex-specific spouse-star rules.
- Does a difficult result mean we should not be together?
- No. The chart describes possible patterns and differences in rhythm. It does not decide the future of a relationship. The people involved retain that choice.
- Is BaZi compatibility calculation free?
- Yes. Both sets of Four Pillars, Five Elements, strength calculations, and available Zi Wei palaces are free to view without an account. Optional automated reading prices are explained on the pricing page.
Use comparisons as a reference for building relationships, not as medical, legal, financial, or personal safety advice. A symbolic chart cannot replace the choices of the people involved.
